Noosa Biosphere Reserve to host international Biosphere Reserve meeting (from 15-18 November 2014.)

Noosa Biosphere Reserve will be the host site for a meeting of Island and Coastal Biosphere Reserve representatives from 15-18 November 2014.
A number of the UNESCO Man and Biosphere program Directors from Paris and managers of Biosphere Reserves from around Australia and New Zealand will be attending.

The meeting was initially flagged with UNESCO in July last year.  Noosa Biosphere Reserve was promoted as a focus site for Australia / Pacific Biosphere Reserve activities and an opportunity to learn more about the range of initiatives being undertaken by other Biosphere Reserves in our region.
Noosa Mayor Noel Playford said the event was a great opportunity to host people from other biospheres who will be sharing their experiences while enjoying some time in Noosa.

Raul Weychardt, Chair of Noosa Biosphere Limited, said approximately 24 participants are expected to attend the meeting, which has been made possible due to a co-funding arrangement by Noosa Biosphere Limited, Noosa Council and UNESCO.
“It is an important opportunity to showcase Noosa to a diverse group of people all having interests in progressing Biosphere Reserve objectives,” Mr Weychardt said.

The conference will be held at Outrigger Little Hastings Street Resort and Spa (a partner of the Noosa Biosphere Reserve program), and will include meaningful discussion around each participating Biosphere Reserve’s experiences, and a field trip throughout Noosa, taking in hinterland and coastal areas.
