My Biosphere Reserve becomes Smart

Biosphere Smart can provide local platforms for each biosphere reserve, known as “BR Digital” that promotes a community-based vision for each biosphere reserve. Several biosphere reserves have already successfully opened this new interactive window.

Through BR Digital citizens become empowered to provide, act on and benefit from biosphere reserve related information and experiences.

As an eLearning platform, Biosphere Smart enables citizens living within Biosphere Reserves to collect environmental, cultural and social data using computers or mobile devices. With the assistance of the BR Digital, citizens can observe the important green economy and sustainable development components of a biosphere reserve by going on a virtual walk to observe and document the existing biodiversity trends, cultural assets, community services, transportation systems, waste management systems, tourist facilities, water management or energy use in their own communities etc

WorkShop Geotourism and Geoparks

On Friday February 28 Interra participated in the workshop "Geotourism and Geoparks". Organized by the Universidad del Valle de Guatemela, its objective was to review the concept of Geotourism, Geoparks their relationship with and the benefits in terms of sustainability and economic development. The workshop presented Interra's tools for management, decision-making and promotion of protected natural areas, in this case, Geoparks.
